There are over 3,200 people in Tarrant County who are homeless, some are families, others are veterans, but what they all have in common is that they need your help today.
Are you ready join the conversation and help a homeless neighbor?
Homelessness, feels like an impossible situation to those experiencing it. The number one thing heard by those who advocate for the homeless, is how hopeless they feel. The LegUp is here to bring hope through advocacy, education, and support. It’s our mission to aid in rehousing, employment assistance, need based coaching, and whatever else we can customize within our program to get people off the street, out of assistance, and to gain independence and stability within their lives.
HUD defines homelessness in 4 ways:
- People who are living in a place not meant for human habitation, in emergency shelter, in transitional housing, or are exiting an institution where they temporarily resided.
- People who are losing their primary nighttime residence, which may include a motel or hotel or a doubled up situation, within 14 days and lack resources or support networks to remain in housing.
- Families with children or unaccompanied youth who are unstably housed and likely to continue in that state.
- People who are fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, have no other residence, and lack the resources or support networks to obtain other permanent housing.
The LegUp is here to bridge the gap in people’s transition from Homeless to Hopeful to Home.
Let's shower our homeless neighbors with compassion kits! What is that? A compassion kits is reusable bag filled with items that can bless our clients and homeless neighbors in our community. They are made up of: hand sani, soap, wet wipes, grooming tools & products, ear swabs, toothbrushes & paste, shaving kits, & more! We will be collecting these items until the end of April, and then a street outreach team, made up of volunteers from our community will be distributing them to those in need! You can either, donate items to this campaign by dropping them a our office or donate funds for a LegUp team member to purchase these items, and build the kits for our homeless neighbors! Our office is located at: 1212 E Lancaster Ave. Fort Worth, Texas 76102$0.00 donated
